Playoffs Day 3: Resurgence win the MPL-MY/SG S5 title

Orange Esports Reborn Utterly Destroyed Resurgence 2-0 Orange Esports Reborn Despite entering the Lower Bracket semi-finals with a good track record, OE fell 0-2 to RSG. RSG was playing very aggressively in both games, and Game 1 started with OE’s members getting caught out one-by-one due to mispositioning, with RSG diving turrets and going deep into the enemy jungle. RSG snowballed completely out of control with a 25-0 win by 11 minutes. Game 2 went the same way. OE tried being aggressive, but with clever skill and spell usage, RSG turned fights around. OE’s indecisiveness further hampered their gameplay, and…

Playoffs Day 2 recap: Geek Fam’s flawless performance

Orange Esports Reborn, Titan Slayers Team Bosskurr 1-2 Orange Esports Reborn Yet again, Bosskurr’s run in the Playoffs has ended early. They started off well in Game 1. Bosskurr managed to consistently punish OE’s mistake of overcommitting and took the lead, pushing right into OE’s base to win. In Game 2, though, the tides turned. OE was able to gain a lead in gold and objectives despite an early stalemate. Mal played a big role in split-pushing to take down Bosskurr’s towers. Game 3 was similar. OE barely engaged in fights and committed to taking objectives, which hampered Bosskurr’s gameplan…

Playoffs Day 1 Recap: Resurgence and Geek Fam surge forward

The Fall of Axis Esports Axis Esports 0-2 Orange Esports From Game 1, it was apparent that OE had better teamwork and communication. Even when falling behind due to silly mistakes (like mispositioning), they were able to salvage the situation thanks to Silo’s leadership. With Mal’s split-pushing and Cakbu’s Lord steal, OE closed the game on a high note. Axis took the lead early in Game 2 with a few kills, but OE still managed to hold on. Then at 7 minutes, it all went wrong for Axis. A disastrous teamfight allowed OE to take control, and they kept pressing…

Resurgence, EVOS SG, Geek Fam: Safe at the Top

These three teams are in no danger of losing their upper bracket spots, as the minimum score to beat is 11 points, which only one other team (Orange Esports) is capable of achieving, assuming a 3-0 score for each of their 4 games. Still, the Week 5 outcomes for these top achievers will determine their matchups, so they may want to try harder (or slack off) if they’re aiming for specific opponents. Resurgence vs Notorious Villains Resurgence is basically untouchable at #1. They’ve demonstrated incredible teamwork and discipline this season, a step up from their previous performance, and haven’t lost…

Geek Fam and Resurgence – Two Phoenixes Clash

On one hand, GF are known as the Singapore slayers, skilled at adapting and countering the tactics Singaporean teams usually use (mainly hyper-aggressive starts). They delivered a crushing 2-0 defeat to EVOS SG on Week 1, after all.  On the other hand, RSG has proven themselves equally adaptable, able to switch tactics when one isn’t working. Simultaneously phoenixes as well as chameleons, this is a match to look out for. A Downward Turn for SMG Team SMG vs Resurgence While SMG started the season off well,…
